You had better do some reading starting with a couple pages back or you are going to run into some problems!

Haha. Ain't that the truth!!! After all that, I'm still feeling that sense of victory as I'm typing this response on my A500 tablet!

To be honest, when I thought I did the fix, I wasn't getting the update. It might be a Kit Kat thing. And now, with the proper fix, I will never get it. I don't appreciate Google's stealth updates.

I didn't apply the fix and it keeps being updated, I noticed the update occurs after use Google Play
I didn't apply the fix just because I hope Google fix this issue some of these days

Question I'm trying to install Dropbox and it keeps failing to start or create the account.
Someone has a Dropbox version working on with this GP version?

I tried with version Dropbox 26.2.2 APK

I didn't explain it clearly .

I didn't apply the fix to avoid the auto update of Google Services. I revert the version every day to .84.
But with .84 dropbox doesn't work

For the Google Play Services error since Feb 5th or so. I just want to confirm that the solution to the problem is what nexocomun said below.

Summary:

1. Download V13 from the first post in this thread.

2. Download the open_gapps 5.1 from the link nexocomun provides.

3. Copy them to your SD Card.

4. Using TWRP, do a wipe of everything except your read SD Card, then install OMNI ROM, Gapps and SuperSU if you want root.

5. Before connecting to WiFi, go to Settings -> Apps -> All, then under for each of the following apps, uncheck the "Show notifications" button. These are:

Google Play Services
Google Services Framework

6. Connect to WiFi, then open Google Play, and enter your Google Account information.

7. Now you can proceed to install Gmail, Calendar, Maps, and any other apps you want.

If you ever make a mistake and click "Update All", just go to Settings -> Apps, and revert Google Play Services and Google Services Framework to the version you initially installed (10.0.84), and things should work again, until Google decide to break them again.

nexocomun » 13 Feb 2017, 16:42 wrote:Hi,

I had the same Google service stop problem. The solution I have done:

Following the comments of this thread, according to hubmaster080 comments (thanks !!!!!) I searched for the latest version of GAPPS with 10.0.84, which is the 19/12/17 (the 20/12/17 has version 10.2 .91).

https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releas ... ionlog.txt
https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releas ... 170119.zip
https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releas ... 19.zip.md5

Installed from 0 with that GAPPS (/system and /cache format type ext4, /data format type f2fs), before you put the Wi-Fi it has to be removed to notify update to

Google Services Framework 5.1.1-2168912
Google Play Services 10.0.84 (230-137749526)
Google Play Store 7.4.12.L-all [0] [PR] 144479971

Tested with the latest versions of several programs, they run smoothly after several hours.

Note: Google Play Services updated itself to version 10.2.98 (230-146496160) (I think because I clicked 'Update all' in Play Store), and it returned the error. Removing the update returned to work everything ok.

Prevention: do not press Update All ever, update each program separately.

Thanks to the creators of these threads and thor2002ro for their excellent work  .

I hope I can help someone :D

Maybe dig up an older version via apk mirror and see if there's one that works.

I'll boot up my tablet but so far it's been really quiet. No updates slipping in so far. The thing is it will look very scary when you apply the fix because when I attempted to, there was already an apk downloaded in /data/app/ for Google Play Services. Once I deleted it, it looked like the tablet didn't have the Services installed, so my tablet was going crazy over this. After setting the folder path, I switched on airplane mode and then reinstalled 10.0.84. It didn't calm down the tablet, so I rebooted. Then, things started to hum along without problems.

The fix just puts a bogus apk file folder, so maybe Google attempts to update but it never goes to the right path. I've thought of putting in 10.0.84 and just revoking all read and write permissions on it to prevent later versions from slipping in, but never had the guts to try it.

The tablet has been up for a bit and there's no update here. So, I think you should try it too, hubmaster.

well I dunno if I am going to.....probably getting an nvidia shield k1 in about a week or so....it seems to be the best in specs compared to $$$$.....been doing a lot of research on it over the past couple of months...plus its upgradeable to nougat!
