Well, that didn't work. Using OTA. ICS v4.0.3 with Bootloader 0.03.11-ICS (custom mode). Previous Recovery was v1.7 Touch.
Moved the new zip to the external sdcard and flashed from CWM. It reported all was well & A500 boots normally, but when attempting to enter recovery she hangs at the "Booting Recovery Kernel Img" small print.

Acer Recovery Installer v2.74 does not recognize the installed recovery.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks for all you do.

How do I know what bootloader I'm on? I'm on the 1.7 recovery, and I don't want to brick my device.

Wow......white text is so much easier to read.

Power options all in one area is great rather than having Reboot Recovery in Advanced :D

Love the swipe gestures as well.

Acer Recovery not recognizing this recovery.

Thanks

Yes, I think so... . It is a HC not ICS boot loader. If you have the acer recovery installer, it shows you the boot loader version. The correct nummber is 3.01
