Stuck trying to update bootloader and recovery

Postby DirtyThirty » 08 Nov 2016, 10:23

Present recovery: (ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.0.0(thor2002ro rev1.3.4))
Android version: 3.2.1
kernel: 2.6.36.4-thor-v3.9r3
build: HTK75.Thor_Rom_v14.2_epad-8.6.5.19-20111107

I have been trying to use the APX_v0.4A-flashTool-55Manager1.0.2 to install the V8-TWRP_2.1.3_ICS_recovery.a500apx package. Everything goes well until it tries to flash. It just totally just sits there and hangs saying "entering download mode bootloader". Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers plenty and they seem to be working just fine and the A500 responds as it should except for the hanging at the stage stated above.

I have a headache from trying to read through everything and pulling my hair out.

Is there an easier way that I am missing ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !!

Still searching and trying to plug through it...

I have now flashed (Tegraowners Recovery rev2.0b4 Iconia A50x (TWRP v 2.8.0.0))

Not sure what my major malfunction was...

I just flashed omnirom 5.1.1 v12, gapps, and supersu and am waiting now on first boot up.

The one thing I noticed during the whole process is that it kept saying unable to mount something like boot/2 or something. Is that a problem ? [edit: upon searching this seems the norm and to disregard]

Tablet is booted up and looks good so far. Going to go through the setup.

...blonde hair and blue eyes.

UPDATE:

things seem fine with tablet except for the fact that trying to install anything from the play store results in an "ERROR: Unknown error code during application install: 972"

...now reading up on that...

[EDIT] Formatted data and cache to f2fs, did a full wipe, reinstalled rom and gapps, booted up, installed supersu from the playstore, and...

...won't update binaries either method. Downloaded latest (SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115) and flashing from TWRP. Reboot, optimizing, and everything works like a charm now.

...now just to go vote :shifty:
