@freightyard. Old thread but same problem, I would appreciate your help.

I have my CPUID which i got from Ubuntu, and my SBK which I got from SBCalc.

I cannot do an update.zip in sdcard, because when I turn it on the screen stays black, no vabration either, only the power button light turns on.

I tried the EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1 method (which worked great for my cousins a500) but on mine when it asks me to press reset button and power button for a few seconds and continue (i belive this is called going into apx mode), only then will the tablet vibrate and turn on the screen with acer logo and "Entering Acer Download Mode" at the top. The problem starts when PBJ20upgrade comes back with a "failed" message and a retry request after about 10%. As per the request, I do the reset and power button thing again, press retry, and the same thing after the same 10%.

Whats that other method you have helped out with? Can I get the link too?

Thanks in advance.

Thor has babsector available somewhere in this forum
download and unzip that and run both bats as explained
then update recovery to new one viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1490
just use search at top of page to find babsector
and it was rooted and a custom rom before this problem right ?

Reflowing is only a temporary fix......it won't last forever.....its maybe like a 6 month to a year fix...so to answer your question.....replace is better.....but cost is about 80$ USD for motherboard....pretty easy to do if u have minor tech experience...if u don't have the$$$$ then by all means....reflow away!!!!
