Hello. I am new to this and don't want to mess up. I have rooted my A500, and want the CM rom. Do I need this first or can I just flash_image etc directly for the CM image? Thanks.

If you have this recovery installed, you mey install the ROM zip & gapps. Just read Thor`s OP carefully before installing.

I don't have this recovery installed. I was mainly curious as to how to install this recovery. I'll look at this Thor you mentioned.

this post covers everything
thanks to mrsvt for the work documenting it all
in your case since you are rooted then you need to continue on with the bootloader and recovery installation which is well explained in the post starting at the line
From here, you will need:

The link for the tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1675939 is broken. Do you know where I can find the OTA tool?
(The download link on the XDA forum not the XDA forum link).

does not reset bootloader settings
reboot to bootloader boot menu
all file system tools included NO EXTRA ZIP REQUIRED
has partition format menu
when backing up dumps bct_ebt_pt_gp1 and uuid to backup folder

AND YES TO GET IT ALL IN THE RECOVERY THIS SMALL I USED MAGIC!!! DEAL WITH IT!!!

changelog:
Code: Select all
v2.0b4 - twrp base update
           - restoring backup preserves current file system
           - mtp now working in recovery(still buggy a little copying stuff)
           - wipe menu has repair fs and some other stuff
           - update exfat
           - stability fixes
           - updated kernel t66

v2.0b2 - twrp base update
           - kernel update to t55
           - mount and format lists include device block path and fstype in the list
           - fix itsmagic and some a500 utils not working because they were not linked against the new libs
           - its a rar so unpack it into the storage you flash from it contains md5 file since twrp supports md5 checking... you will see in the install log if md5 matched or not...

the newest bootloader you will find is the ics bootloader....3.14 is my version and as far as the twrp .....the link works fine for me...use google drive....takes you to adfly and click on top "skip ad"....then it opens up some bullcrap and click it off and should auto download
If you are still having issues I suppose I can PM it to you

Thnks hubmaster080, disabling UBlock and Ghostery, "skip ad..." does the trick.
