Bitcoin Mining on Lubuntu (A500/A501) with A Block Erupter

Postby davidduckwitz » 10 Nov 2013, 16:17

Hey People,
Here's a Tutorial how you can Bitcoin Mining on Thor's & Digitex Lubuntu for Iconia A50x with a ASICMINER USB Block Erupter & Bfgminer from GitHub (open Source)!
Happy Mining :D

Open Terminal and Type in the Terminal the following Instructions ----> without :naughty: run and :naughty: "..." :

1: Run "apt-get update"

2: Run "apt-get install make"

3: Run "apt-get install git autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncurses5-dev"

4: Run "git clone git://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git"

5: Enter the bfgminer directory

6: Run "./autogen.sh"

7: Run "./configure" (if you do not want to use GPUs on the machine, add --disable-opencl)

8: Run "make"

9: After make completes, you can run bfgminer directly (may require sudo), or create a shell script that includes your arguments.

Running BFGMiner:
sudo ./bfgminer -o yourpool:poolport -u yourworker -p yourpassword -S all --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -G

Yourworker = You must add your Worker from your Pool (Example: davidduckwitz_1)
Yourpool:poolport = You must add your Pool & Port (Example: stratum+tcp://stratum.btcguild.com:3333)
Yourpassword = your password from the worker of the Pool (on Pool "BTCGuild" you don't need a worker pass -> enter Whatever you want)

Example with BTCGUILD:
sudo ./bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u davidduckwitz_1 -p 123 -S all --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -G

-S all = Scan all ports for Asicminer
-G = Don't use GPU (Graphic-Card) for Mining --> Use this on our Great Iconia, because our GPU has not enough power :)

Working great :) Building a Mining rig with it :D

This Tutorial is for "Non GPU" & "Non CPU" Mining... Mining with a "ASICMINER USB Block Erupter"
Making 333 mh/s (0,3 gh/s) for every Stick... ( i got 8 Asics  )

The Iconia with your Lubuntu is perfect to building a Mining-Rig, because Iconia Don't use a lot "Energy" (Better than a PC with 750 Watt).

If you want to use your GPU (Graphic-Card) then you must Type without the "-G" Parameter:

Example:
sudo ./bfgminer -o yourpool:poolport -u Yourworker -p yourworkerpassword

= This will using no Asic -> so you mining with you GPU --> Energy-Wasting

Hi, i was curious to know if you are still able to mine bitcoins on the a500 with Lubuntu? I would also like to try it out but want to make sure if it's still working before diving into it.

Thanks much!
